"Traditional Wood Art" Collection, Ungheni Museum of History and Ethnography.
Troița was built as a monument dedicated to the Romanian soldiers who fought in World War I from 1914-1919.
On the central axis, the piece has a 27 x 29 cm composition carved, consisting of a military helmet on the background of two crossed swords, and on the upper and lower parts of the composition the year "1916-1919" is inscribed. On the same central axis, in a rectangular floral frame measuring 54 x 38 cm, the image of St. Demetrius, the patron saint of the Romanian Army, is carved, with a height of 40 cm. At the bottom of it is chiseled the name "St. Demetrius", who is the patron saint of the Romanian Army. On the lower part of both side arms is inscribed the dedication: "Honor of Heroes". On the entire surface of the crucifix, on the front, back and sides, the traditional "rope" ornament is carved, meaning continuity, eternity and the connection between the worlds. The play has the status of an important ethnographic, historical and ecclesiastical document from the Middle Prut Valley region.
