RUCKIN Roman, Sankt Petersburg, Russia
The work exudes strength, vitality, security, movement, steadfastness. For Moldova, it is the symbolic animal, the bison of the ancient forests, through which our ancestors affirmed their identity, leaving descendants the image of legendary times.
At the same time, the work has an identity charge. In the Moldovan imagination, the bison (European bison) is a symbolic animal, linked to ancient forests and the memory of an archaic world. Ruckin takes up this motif not as a folkloric ornament, but as a sign of continuity: the animal becomes an “emblem” of resistance and dignity, an image of the legendary time that ancestors transmitted to descendants.
The composition thus suggests two complementary registers: on the one hand, the internal dynamics of the body - safety, potential movement, controlled force; on the other hand, the symbolic dimension - the bison as a landmark of identity and collective memory. Torro is not just a sculpted animal, but a monumental presence that reclaims space and transforms it into a scene of "legendary times", in which nature and history meet in a single sign.
