VÂRTOSU Valentin, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova
"The Eminescu Hourglass is the essence of the passage of time and at the same time the essence of immortality," says the author. The idea of an hourglass suggests that the existence of genius is perpetual, and the flowing sand leaves traces of memories and ideas that are never lost. The work contains a sublime message, written three times, "Eminescu, we love you," as a tribute brought by us to Eminescu's genius. On the surface of the work, elements inspired by the "Column of Infinity," from the pillars of peasant houses, intertwine, a sign of continuity, of the eternity of the creative spirit, they are like a spiral that climbs endlessly towards the sky. Here too, elements appear that suggest the "Dorumetrul," the measuring mechanism of longing for the "Great Romanian," for the Absolute Romanian. At the top of the sculpture, a "Puidedor", a "Soul Bird" soaring towards the heavens, crowning the work as a symbol of freedom, inspiration and immortality. It is the metaphorical expression of the eternity of the Eminescu spirit, which lives beyond time and space and which travels eternally through thoughts, feelings and words, like a true flight that transcends matter.
