Wanting to offer the public a realistic subject, understandable to the viewer, the sculptor appealed to prehistoric memory, a fact forgotten or unknown for a long time: Moldova was once the bottom of the Sarmatian Sea. The proof is the worked stone itself, its texture and content. The aim of the artist's intervention was to accentuate the properties of the material and, ultimately, to "reanimate" an almost immemorial reality.

The work starts from an assumed intention: to offer the public a realistic subject, easily recognizable, but loaded with a deep meaning. The sculptor does not invent a new myth, but recovers a “memory” much older than human history: the fact that, in a distant time, the space of Moldova was covered by the Sarmatian Sea. In this sense, the sculpture becomes a visual lesson about geological origins, a bridge between the viewer’s present and a prehistoric past.

The stone itself is the central argument of the work. Its texture, porosities and "traces" in the mass are not treated as defects, but as witnesses of time.

Therefore, the sculpture fulfills its double purpose: on the one hand, it highlights the internal beauty of the material (texture, density, traces), on the other hand, it transforms this materiality into an accessible cultural message. The viewer does not just contemplate an artistic object, but enters into a relationship with the long time of the earth: with a Moldova that, before being a landscape, was great.
