A cheerful character

ZDERCIUC Augustin, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova

2006. Ungheni Sculpture Camp, 4th edition. Sandstone

Palace of Culture, Children's Sports School

The author of the work is a child, today already an adult. He is the son of the master Ion Zderciuc. He worked on the work alongside his father. The author's story: a child who sculpted in 2006 and is now an adult makes the piece a symbol of the city: Ungheni as a place where sculpture is not just an event, but a school of vision and character. It is, in a way, the sculpture that grows with man.

The work has the simplicity and joy of childhood: a serene, direct face that smiles at you from the stone. Beyond form, the piece speaks of continuity – about how, in Ungheni, sculpture is not only made to be looked at, but also to shape people.

Do you remember the first time you felt like you "could create" something?
