Troița was created as a commemorative monument to the Romanian soldiers who fought in World War I, 1914-1919.
The piece is carved in traditional Romanian style on the entire front surface. On the central part are carved military insignia: a soldier's helmet accompanied by two weapon bayonets, elements that show the purpose of a troița-monument dedicated to heroes. There are also certain painted elements: angels at the bottom on sheet metal and the face of the Lord at the top. The troița has a sheet metal roof on a wooden support, embellished with traditional decorative elements. The monument was exhibited for many years in the courtyard of the "Sfântul Gheorghe" church in Măcărești, and in 2022, at the request of the museologists, it was donated to the Ungheni Museum, becoming a historical and ethnographic document of great significance for the history of the Middle Prut Valley region.
