Created as part of the 2018 symposium dedicated to the Centennial of the Great Union, the work Earthly Mass proposes a metaphor for the foundation: the earth and history as the deep layer on which any community rests. The upper volume, treated as a disk or slightly inclined tabletop, suggests an archetypal mass - not a domestic one, but a primordial one, extracted as if from the massif, from an old, heavy and durable matter.
The texture of the travertine, kept brutal and porous, becomes an essential part of the meaning: the surface is not smoothed for comfort, but left to speak of time, erosion and memory. In the register of detail, certain shapes can be read as references to telluric fauna (such as snails), emphasizing the idea of an underground world, slow but persistent - a witness to duration.
In this context, the table appears as a symbolic place of gathering: a space of encounter between people and their roots, where unity is understood not only as a historical act, but as an expression of continuity and belonging to the same land.
