Although created during the 2018 symposium dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union, the work Madonna is placed in another register, of an archetypal nature: that of fecundity, of beginnings and of the sacred maternal. The title refers to the iconography of the Madonna, but the sculptor avoids narrative or portrait representation and proposes an essentialized image, built from the relationship between volumes.

The concave, ample form functions as a sheltering space - nest, shell, symbolic uterus - within which rounded presences are outlined, suggesting the embryonic and the idea of life in the making. Maternity is expressed not through detail, but through the plastic gesture of envelopment: a presence that encompasses, protects and organizes the core.

Travertine, with its porous and organic texture, supports this theme of genesis: the surfaces left rougher alternate with smoothed areas, like a transition from matter to form, from potential to manifestation. Overall, the Madonna becomes a symbol of continuity and the discreet beauty of origin: the beginning as a sacred act and as the foundation of any duration.
