2018. Ungheni Sculpture Camp, 7th edition. Travertine

Cluj Small Park

Împreunări is a work created as part of the 2018 edition, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Great Union. The message proposed by the sculptor is clear: the unity of the Romanian nation, understood as connection, solidarity and construction over time.

From a plastic point of view, the sculpture is made up of massive volumes, almost like overlapping "blocks", which seem to rest on each other. The surfaces retain the rough texture of the stone in places, and between these masses there appear connections and cutouts that suggest gripping, articulation, clamping. We do not have a fluid form, but one in which the effort to bring different parts together, to make them function as a single body is felt.

The title, "Unions," emphasizes this very gesture: union not as an idealized image, but as a process - a construction through fit, balance, and mutual support. Overall, the work conveys the idea that unity is achieved through solid connections between distinct elements, and stone, as a durable material, becomes a metaphor for continuity and constancy.
