Sculptor Tudor Cataragă is one of the sculptors known for his archaic-modern language, where history, myth and raw material meet.

The work is monumental, with massive volume and fragmented, layered forms, which rather suggest strength, memory and time, authority and stability, a history built from ruptures, not from smooth continuities, and the rough texture of the stone and the chisel marks (and even the metal inserts) refer to the struggle with matter and the idea of resistance over time.

Medieval Throne does not seem to be about a specific ruler or king, but about power as a responsibility, not as an ornament. The author does not see medieval history romantically, but realistically – harsh, difficult, marked by conflicts.

The work does not ask to be admired for its beauty, but to be confronted: it makes you stop, to go around it, to feel its weight.
