On March 4, 2026, in Iași, the Conference took place "Women. Historical Perspective in the Middle Prut Valley", carried out within the project "Gates for the sustainable integration of the culture of the Middle Prut Valley in European tourist routes" (ROMD00219), implemented by the Ungheni City Hall, in partnership with the Iași City Hall, within the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova 2021–2027 Program.

In the context of valorizing cultural heritage and promoting local identity, a round table was organized on the theme "Women in the Middle Prut Valley - historical role, cultural identity and contribution to local heritage", at the Regina Maria Municipal Museum in Iasi, an event dedicated to exploring and recognizing the essential role of women in the development of communities in this region.
The Middle Prut Valley is a space of great cultural richness, where traditions, customs and community values have been preserved and transmitted from generation to generation. In this context, women have made a fundamental contribution, being pillars of cultural identity, social life and the preservation of material and intangible heritage. The event aimed to bring to the forefront historical and contemporary perspectives on the role of women, bringing together academics, representatives of the entrepreneurial environment, representatives of the cultural environment and members of the local community.

The main discussion topics included:
The woman as the keeper of cultural and spiritual identity, actively involved in the transmission of traditional crafts such as weaving, sewing, pottery and gastronomy specific to the area.
Their role in preserving folklore – songs, doines, ballads – as well as in maintaining religious rituals and customs.
Highlighting prominent female figures in fields such as education, culture, art and literature, as well as examples of women who have influenced the economic, social and cultural development of the region.
Access to education and diversification of professional opportunities, involvement in administration, civic and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Identifying ways to capitalize on the cultural heritage transmitted by women and outlining concrete measures to promote women's contribution to local heritage.
Through this event, the partners aimed to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue, encourage recognition of the merits of women in this region, and contribute to strengthening the cultural identity of the Middle Prut Valley.
The event represented an important step towards promoting cultural heritage and equal opportunities, highlighting the essential role of women in the past, present and future.
