"Mihai Eminescu" House of the Romanian Language
The House of the Romanian Language is a Public Institution that was founded on March 1, 1999. This institution was created just 10 years after the adoption of the "Law on the Restoration of the Romanian Language and the Transition to the Latin Script" of August 31, 1989, with the aim of ensuring that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and especially the citizens of Ungheni, speak a clean and correct language, and preserve the correct writing in the Latin script with dignity. As well as the preservation and promotion of the national linguistic heritage.
The founder of this center is Svetlana Ciobanu, who held the position of director for 7 years. Since 2005, Rodica Toma has been at the helm of the institution, initially appointed as Head of Department, later appointed as director of the institution. In 2010, the IP Casa Limbii Române was given the name "Mihai Eminescu". The founder of the institution is the Ungheni Municipality.
"Mihai Eminescu" House of the Romanian Language has the mission to protect, promote and valorize the Romanian language as the foundation of national identity, culture and creative spirit. The institution aims to cultivate respect for the literary Romanian language, to support quality language education and to encourage dialogue between tradition and modernity, between heritage and contemporary creation.
Through educational, cultural and scientific programs, the House of the Romanian Language becomes a space for meeting between generations, for affirming authentic values and for opening the Romanian language to the European and universal space.
