The workshop "The Art of Bark Weaving", organized within the project "Gates for the Sustainable Integration of the Culture of the Middle Prut Valley in European Tourist Routes" / ROMD00219, funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova Program, took place on October 10, 2025, at the Palace of Culture in Ungheni. The workshop was dedicated to the preservation and transmission of the traditional craft of bark weaving, an element of intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, and offered participants the opportunity to discover authentic techniques, traditional tools and the stages of making the Moldovan carpet. Under the guidance of folk craftswoman Ecaterina Popescu, participants took part in practical demonstrations and interactive activities.

The event brought together over 35 participants – representatives of cultural institutions, museologists, folk craftsmen and journalists – and was complemented by the exhibition "The Evolution of the Traditional Carpet", which presented old bark, decorative patterns and work tools.
The workshop highlighted the role of traditional crafts as a link between generations, contributing to the revitalization of intangible cultural heritage, cultural education of the community and the integration of local traditions into European tourist circuits, key objectives of the ROMD00219 project.
